The tradition of Menú del día in Spain started  as an initiative to provide cheap, filling food for workers. The Ministry of Tourism made it law in the 1960´s, meaning that all restaurants had to provide a set lunch at a fixed price.

A google search for  ¨menú del dia ¨ gives 836,000,000 results.

an even more detailed search generates

41,900,000

The APP  eliminates the need to go through all these results and takes you to the menus available in your area instantly.

Traditionally in Spain the restaurants advertise their daily menu  on chalk boards outside their business premises. Local residents would spend time driving around the towns restaurants to see what is on offer before deciding where to eat lunch.

I did this myself  and  it is how I got the idea for Menú del día APP
